Mòdú 墨读 collects the following information:

  • Learner profile: Display name, HSK level, daily reading goal, and interests
  • Generated content: Book prompts, generated stories, and vocabulary lists
  • Learning data: Saved words, spaced repetition progress, and reading history
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and error logs for debugging

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Generate personalized graded readers at your HSK level
  • Track your vocabulary learning and spaced repetition schedule
  • Improve the quality of AI-generated translations and content
  • Debug technical issues and improve service reliability

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored locally in an SQLite database on the server. Generated books and assets are stored in the local file system. Mòdú 墨读 does not currently use cloud storage or third-party databases.

4. Third-Party Services

Mòdú 墨读 uses the following third-party services:

  • OpenRouter (DeepSeek): For text generation, translation, and vocabulary extraction. Your prompts and generated text are sent to OpenRouter for processing.
  • OpenAI: For cover and chapter image generation. Image prompts derived from your book are sent to OpenAI for processing.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of OpenRouter and OpenAI for information about how they handle data.

5. Data Retention

Your books and learning data are retained as long as you use the service. You can delete individual books from the library at any time. Deleted books and their associated data are permanently removed.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data stored in Mòdú 墨读
  • Delete your books and vocabulary data
  • Export your books in EPUB and PDF format
  • Request deletion of all your data

7. Cookies and Local Storage

Mòdú 墨读 uses browser local storage to persist your theme preference, reading progress, and font size settings. No third-party tracking cookies are used.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
